Direct Tissues Based Protein Analysis – Molecular Histology
Molecular Histology is the latest application from Bruker Daltonics for clinical research. It is the future of the well known technique commonly refered to as “MALDI Imaging”. MALDI Imaging is a technique used to acquire mass spectrometric data directly from a cryostat section of a tissue. Spectra are obtained in a measuring grid across the tissue area with high lateral resolution. Peaks can be correlated with underlying tissue architecture without any geometrical distortion, enabling true Molecular Histology.
The complete instrumentation package for performing Molecular Histology is developed, manufactured and distributed exclusively by Bruker. This package includes:
- The ImagePrep- designed for automated & reproducible matrix application
- Unique MALDI TOF and MALDI FTMS mass spectrometers with optimized laser (smartbeam technology)
- Dedicated software for data acquisition and data visualization (flexImaging)
- Sophisticated software for biostatistical analysis for expression profiling (ClinProTools)
