CBRNE Applications Scientist

As an Applications Scientist for all CBRNE products in the USA, the position covers sales, marketing, and applications for CBRNE products and serves as a project manager for sales of GC/MS systems as well as biological systems. 


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Conduct training on CBRNE instruments & equipment.
  • Provide onsite or offsite demonstrations on CBRNE equipment with emphasis on GC/MS systems.
  • Perform minor field repairs to GC/MS systems and other CBRNE instruments.
  • Perform in-house or onsite applications experiments with GC/MS and other CBRNE instruments.                                       
  • Monitor and Support CBRNE instruments throughout their testing and validation phase performed by various independent government agencies.
  • Research and explore the potential application of CBRNE products in the USA market.
  • Provide advice to the VP Business Development & Chief of R&D on CBRNE instrument development, marketing & applications.
  • Provide technical advice and input for government proposals.
  • Make presentations or write technical papers on Bruker CBRNE instruments, techniques, and applications during conferences and symposia.
  • Conduct sales calls as needed.
  • Represent Bruker at conferences and exhibitions.

 


Minimum Qualifications:

Education and/or Experience   

  • Bachelor’s degree in biology or chemistry; Master’s degree preferred; or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in operation of analytical instrumentation preferred. 
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in performing instrument sales, demonstrations, and installations.
  • Proven expertise in FTIR, GC/MS, IMS and Mass spectrometry technology platforms. 

 

Computer Skills                             

Proficient with Windows applications Win 95, Win 98, Win 2000, Win Millennium and Win XP Pro Proficient with Microsoft Office Word, Excel, Excess, and PowerPoint

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

Beneficial to have received the OSHA 40 hour Hazwhopper Training

Other Skills and Abilities                              

LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to: read and interpret documents such as scientific reports, safety rules and regulations, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals, write routine reports and correspondence, application notes, speak effectively before groups of customers or employees. Ability to give oral scientific presentations for hours at a time

CHEMISTRY/MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to recall, access and utilize accepted formulas of physical chemistry as well as basic chemistry for application computations. 

REASONING ABILITY: The ability to: apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed written or oral instructions. Prioritize and adapt to a constantly changing work environment.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:  The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential duties. Work requires heavy lifting and the ability to lift 75 pounds. Travel required, and may require Saturday and or Sunday work.
