Field Engineering Support - Mass Spectrometry Systems

Based out of the Chicago / Midwest Region from Minneapolis to Indianapolis and reporting to the Regional Service Manager, this is a hands-on position providing product and service support to customers including installation, service, and customer training for our complex mass spec instrumentation and systems supporting the life science’s market.  

You will enjoy operating in a team environment with our highly skilled staff, supporting well educated customers in high technology laboratories, in a variety of industries, and academic environments.

 

  • Communicate and share best practices utilizing your creativity and skill with a variety of tools and techniques.
  • Educate our customers in appropriate use and operation of highly complex, sophisticated instrumentation.  
  • Coordinates with customers WebEx Sessions, phone support, and lab facility inspection for new installs.
  • Install new equipment and retrofit hardware and software upgrades.
  • Track, record and collate data that reflects system performance.
  • Perform preventive maintenance and trouble shooting on instruments.
  • Participates in factory training courses, updates on features, software of new and existing products.
  • Communicates/works closely with service/support centers.


Minimum Requirements:
BS (electrical engineering, electronic, biotechnology, chemical) or equivalent training and experience.  Several years experience diagnosing and repairing complex analytical instrumentation (ideally with mass spectrometers).

 

  • Understanding of basic physical/chemical principals of analytical instrumentation desired.
  • High vacuum, magnetics, precision optics experience a definite plus.
  • Working knowledge of MS Office products.
  • Familiar with graphical user interfaces and software supported diagnostic tools
  • Excellent analytical skills with the ability to communicate complex technical issues in an easy to understand manner.
  • Ability and willingness to travel within the Americas.
  • Strong customer focus and interactions, must be responsive and reliable.
