RAPID
Stand-off detector for atmospheric pollutants
Compact mobile infrared detector for real-time remote sensing of chemical agent clouds. All known Chemical Warfare Agents (CWAs) and important Toxic Industrial Chemicals (TICs) can be automatically monitored up to a distance of five kilometres - either stationary or on the move.
The stand-off detector to count on
The RAPID is a highly reliable infrared detector for stand-off detection of chemical agent clouds. All known CWAs and important Toxic Industrial Chemicals (TICs) are automatically monitored.
The lightweight system can be mounted on vehicles, ships and helicopters, and performs real-time field screening while underway. Sensor, scanner, electronics and control unit are integrated in one compact housing.
The RAPID is based on the proven Bruker RockSolid™ flex-pivot interferometer, and is resistant to mechanical shocks, vibrations, humidity and extreme temperature differences. It is hardened for field operations in harsh and rugged environments.
Cloud Imaging
Latest developments have resulted in linking two or more RAPID’s to setup a triangulation system and allowing tomographic reconstruction of CWA clouds.
Key features
- Easy handling
- Robust and compact design
- Low weight
- Minimal power consumption
- Low detection limits
- Fast measurement and alarm
- Continuous monitoring while on movement
All these features distinguish the RAPID as an efficient and reliable chemical agent detector for field screening.
Applications
With its compact and robust design the RAPID is used in both stationary and mobile applications. Mounted on a tripod, it can be operated as a stand-alone device via the integrated control panel. In addition, a shock mount and RS 422 interface allow for vehicle integration. Fields of application are the detection of warfare agent clouds under battlefield conditions and the monitoring of CWA destruction sites or facilities.
