Bruker Daltonics CLINPROT™ System is an integrated set of tools for biomarker discovery and clinical proteomics research. We offer established methodologies and techniques with powerful software packages to advance clinical research and shorten timelines in biomarker discovery.
One major objective is the discovery of potential biomarkers in complex body fluids like serum, plasma, urine, saliva or cerebral spinal fluid or tissue lysates or cell culture supernatants.
CLINPROT supports a profiling workflow to detect biomarker patterns indicative of specific diseases in biological fluids. In a second workflow individual biomarker candidates can be identified by means of the superior Bruker Daltonics TOF/TOF technology.

Profile spectra of the separated protein/peptide fractions are acquired using a well established FLEX-series MALDI-TOF instrument in linear or reflectron mode. The superior sensitivity and resolution of these instruments generate mass spectra with high information content. The AutoXecute™ acquisition control program enables automated operation with unsurpassed results.

BioTools software for biomarker ID
Any future use of biomarker candidates in clinical environments requires identification of the respective peptides. The TOF/TOF functionality offered by CLINPROT addresses this important task in clinical proteomics. Biomarker candidates detected by ClinProTools can be subjected to TOF/TOF analysis. Metastable fragment ions of the respective precursor ion are analyzed after a second acceleration step. The BioTools software package interprets the resulting fragment pattern and is used for peptide identification via database search.
New CLINPROT micro solution
The CLINPROT micro is a new affordable, easy-to-use and compact clinical system dedicated to peptide and protein profiling, biomarker discovery and biomarker validation. It is based on a high-performance bench-top MALDI-TOF mass spectrometer from Bruker Daltonics’ highly regarded FLEX series, providing excellent biomarker detection sensitivity and resolution, as well as the reliability and reproducibility needed for rigorous validation studies of putative biomarkers for cancer and other diseas
CLINPROT workflow
The CLINPROT micro system offers unique integrated sample preparation tools for biological fluids and tissue extracts with comprehensive analysis, visualization and model building software. The well-established CLINPROT workflow easily measures peptides and proteins which can be used to discover multi-marker panels or profile patterns indicative of specific diseases. These multi-marker panels or patterns have potentially better diagnostic specificity than single biomarkers.
